Marek Szmid arrived at the Academy in September 2022 as player care manager for the Academy.

A former England Youth International and professional player, Marek is also a qualified UEFA Coach.

Having enjoyed a successful youth career, Marek on completion of his degree at Liverpool John Moores University taught PE in a secondary school.

In 2010 Marek accepted the position of education and welfare officer at Manchester United and part of his responsibilities was to perform the role of a safeguarding officer. During this period Marek worked with players who transitioned into senior internationals.
