German starlet scores four times in front of Anfield scouts
It would be no surprise if Jurgen Klopp returned to the German market to try to secure some top talent for Liverpool.
So it makes sense to see Reds' scouts - among many no doubt - reportedly in attendance at the Germany U19s match against Belarus in a UEFA qualifier for the U19 Euro Championship on Wednesday.
And most of their attention was apparently focused on Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Kai Havertz. And if it wasn't it certainly was by the end of the game.
For the 18-year-old scored four on the night - admittedly with two penalties involved - while also notching an assist as Germany ran out 5-1 winners at the Arena Zabrze in Poland.
Havertz made his debut for Leverkusen on October last year, becoming the club's youngest Bundesliga player at the age of 17 years and 126 days.
He went on to make 24 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring four goals and collecting six assists.
He also played three times in the Champions League although famously missed the second leg of the last 16 game with Atletico Madrid because it clashed with his school exams.
Capable of operating from the right, as a '10' or a secondary striker, he was rewarded with a new contract in July which provisionally keeps him at Leverkusen until 2022.
This season he's featured four times in the Bundesliga and once in the German Cup, although has yet to score, although that clearly is not a problem at international level.
