Liverpool are monitoring Leicester’s Demarai Gray as they start to formulate their plans for a summer overhaul.

Jurgen Klopp is determined to add two wingers to his squad ahead of campaign that he hopes will involve Liverpool playing in Europe again.

One of his standout targets is Bayer Leverkusen’s Julian Brandt, who was unobtainable in January.

Brandt, the Germany U21 international, will be a priority when the window opens and the task of signing him will be more straightforward given that his club are having a difficult season and will struggle to qualify for Europe through the Bundesliga.

Liverpool have other options too and Gray, who scored an outstanding goal in the FA Cup fourth round replay against Derby on Wednesday, is on a list of targets.

The 20-year-old fits the profile of player Liverpool recruit and his progress to the end of the campaign will be chartered.

Gray only signed for Leicester from Birmingham 13 months ago but his potential is clear and he is expected to be a key figure for England’s U21s when their quest to win Euro 2017 begins in Poland in June.
