Anfield will see the use of a video assistant referee for the first time in its history when Liverpool take on West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup fourth round later this month.

The Football Association have announced VAR will be in place for the tie, which will be played on Saturday January 27.

It’ll be the first time the Reds have played a competitive fixture with the technology in operation.

Three previous FA Cup ties have used VAR so far this season, most recently on Tuesday evening when Kelechi Iheanacho became the first player in English football history to have a goal awarded following consultation with a video assistant referee in Leicester City’s third-round replay against Fleetwood Town.
