As Liverpool get ready to contest their first home game of the season against Crystal Palace, we caught up with Jay Crame, editor of TheEaglesBeak.com, to see how our opponents are feeling ahead of the trip to Anfield…

Defeat on the opening day to Huddersfield, but a good record at Anfield. How are you feeling going into this one?

Very disappointing start to the season but expecting a reaction from the players. The new formation and style of play really needs to settle down but we have a good record at Anfield in recent years, so I’m hoping that will stand us in good stead.

Thoughts on the new boss, Frank de Boer?

Potentially a gamble but cannot deny it is an exciting appointment considering his stature as a world-class player and success he enjoyed in charge of Ajax. Time will tell of course but FdB has been handed the reins to apply a brand-new style and formation, which he has applied throughout the club. He has said all the right things so far and he's a likeable character, so we will see.

Pleased with your summer business?

Happy with the signings that have been made so far but we have not particularly addressed all problem areas. Think that comes down to FdB not panicking as he gets to know the personnel at his disposal. Expecting two or three more additions before the window closes. Loftus-Cheek has looked impressive while it looks like Riedewald will need time to settle. Fosu-Mensah arrives with high praise from United fans, so interested to see more of him.

Who'll be your biggest threat to Liverpool on Saturday?

It has to be Christian Benteke. Scored a brace on his return to Anfield last season and as he did not manage to get on the scoresheet on opening weekend he will be looking to put that right against his old side.

Which Liverpool players are you most wary of for this one?

Sadio Mane with his pace can threaten anyone and if we struggle with the new formation again then he will be key for the hosts.

How do you see Palace lining up at Anfield?

FdB has no intention of changing the formation after one game so I expect the same line up as we had against Huddersfield but with Cabaye in for the injured Zaha.

Your hopes for this season?

Staying up with FdB still in charge. It's a steep learning curve in the Premier League, so with the changes that have been taken place we need more consistency this season but it is imperative we remain in the division. Would take a similar final position to last season.

Score prediction?

Really tough call so early in the season but with an expected reaction to opening-day defeat for Palace and a Champions League game in the legs of the hosts, I will boldly plump for a draw.
