View from the manager, Steven Gerrard

"The lads are itching to go. It's our first league game for a while so they should be hungry and ready to go. We have dropped down in the league because we've got games to catch up on so it's important we try and get the three points.

"We were very good in our last league game against Everton but it's all about standards. You can't pick your games and just do it against the likes of Everton, Manchester City and Manchester United. You've got to be consistent throughout the season and that's the challenge for them on Saturday - can they perform to the same level as against Everton?

"We know West Bromwich Albion have got pace in the forward positions. They are very dynamic going forward but we can certainly cause them a lot of problems."

"I'm loving being part of the U18s. It's a big step up coming from the U16 side but I'm learning so much. When I found out Steven Gerrard was going to be the manager this season I was buzzing.

"Working with him is special because he was my idol. I support Liverpool and at first I was starstruck but it's just great to be able to pick up some tips from him, and he can help you every step of the way.

"It was special to beat Everton in our last league game and it was great to be part of the team. We know West Bromwich Albion will be a tough test but we have got to do what we do best and try and get the three points."
